Well, it's me - J. Harvey. Purveyor of trashy gossip and the "east coast" editor for Socialite Life. I'm new to this bitch, but looking around I think I'm at least going to find out about what music I should be listening to. Does this mean I have to get rid of my Soup Dragons mp3s?

I recently began working from home, and let me tell you - it's a whole different story. First off, some weird shit goes down in my neighborhood. Don't these people have jobs? I see a lot of randoms doing a lot of smoking on their front porches. I live in an area of Boston called Dorchester. Dorchester is one of the largest parts of the city, and also one of the most interesting. We've got your Irish, Vietnamese, West Indian, African, Polish, and your gays. It's like a melting pot, except no one's really mixed together. Everyone just kind of floats on the top and ignores each other unless someone needs a beatdown or requires a bullet.

The most contact I've had with my neighbors is when the woman next door gave my partner the evil eye when he parked too close to her driveway. I take her very seriously. She was wearing a curly blond wig under the kind of knit cap that Rumer Willis wears. She looked like Janice Combs if a pit bull had attacked her.

"Dot" (as Dorchester is affectionately known as) is also interesting in the fact that there's a war going on between gentrification and the old neighborhood. It's not immediately noticeable. It's just that on one block you can have kind of a chi-chi restaurant that some enterprising homosexual opened, and on the next you can get a good price on crack rock. I'll leave it to you to decide which type of block I live on.
